Summer is fully on us, but the fall will be here before we know it. Rick and I are looking forward to our next set of in-person classes. We’ve been away from all of you for toooooo long!

We will be heading north to Calgary, Alberta, south to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and west to Orange County, California. We will be offering all our regular classes (Composite Drawing for Law Enforcement, Workshop I, Certification/Recertification, Facial ID) along with our Facial Reconstruction and Unknown Remains. We will also be launching a new class for those of you already certified. Stay tuned for more information about this new program!

Calgary, hosted by the Calgary Police Service, will be the week of September 19-23. It’s always a great time with our northern neighbors, and we know we’ll spend a great week up there.

The following month we travel to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina (Charleston area) hosted by the Mount Pleasant Police Department. The week of October 24-28 will see us in this fabulous location known for great food, rich history, and the friendliest group of folks you could possibly find.

We finish the year in Laguna Niguel, California, hosted by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. We’ve missed our California friends! This will be the week of December 5-9.

Please contact Rick (rick@stuartparks.com) or me (carrie@stuartparks.com) for the fliers.

We anticipate full classes, so contact us ASAP to get your flier, start the paper pushing, and save a place.

Rick and I are thrilled to be entering our 34th year of teaching forensic art! So far this year, we have continued the self-directed online classes and scheduled various week-long training as well. To receive a flier on these classes, please contact Carrie at carrie@stuartparks.com

We began the year with a Virtual Basic Class the week of February 28-March 4, 2022.

For returning students, we will be holding Virtual Advanced Classes the weeks of March 21-24, 2022 and May 9-13, 2022.

We will also add classes to our schedule based on interest from you.

This is an opportunity to utilize Zoom meetings and one-on-one time to bring a classroom experience without the travel challenges that we face today.

The benefits of the week-long virtual classes are:

  • --It gives departments a week to confirm and schedule your training.
  • --Students have the same structured day via Zoom that you have in our classrooms.
  • --Students can interact with instructors and fellow students at meetings.
  • --Students get individual instruction during the week.

We will continue to offer independent study classes with you as long as our schedule allows.

If your certification with us has expired, we highly recommend you contact us at this time so we can talk about how we are proceeding forward with that part of our training.

God Bless,

Rick & Carrie

Greeting to all of you.

In this challenging time, Rick and I want to first and foremost reach out to all of you and for you to know you’re in our prayers and thoughts.

We have instituted several changes to our work. At this time we are rescheduling both the Napa, California, and the Oconomowoc, Wisconsin classes. For those interested in attending a class in the next few months, we are offering correspondence classes with the ability to come in to a physical location for a day or two for one-on-one feedback. We have some exciting locations in mind. We have had limited correspondence classes in the past, but those who have taken advantage of this training report a positive experience:

"I have been a student of Rick and Carrie's since 2013. In that time, I was lucky enough to take a correspondence class from them which afforded me a much appreciated opportunity to sharpen my drawing skills. The level of professionalism and accommodation by way of this correspondence course is nothing short of Rick and Carrie's usual excellent instruction. It is always a pleasure, and this was just an added bonus.”-Aaron Williams, CCA, CFA, Tempe PD, Tempe, AZ

"During my Composite Certification process, I was able to complete a portion of my training from the comfort of my home. Stuart Parks Forensics Associates sent materials and was ready/available to answer questions and provide timely instruction, which echoed the quality of the face-to-face experience. As their coursework migrates to a new hybrid online/distance format to meet the challenges of today, rest assured that the strength and veracity of Stuart Parks training remains both rigorous and fully in-tact. I highly endorse completing the course via correspondence! Do not let Covid-19 curb your progress towards certification!” Mallory Prucha, CCA,

“I am a self employed artist and have taken 6 composite/forensic artist classes from Stuart Parks Forensic Associates over the last 5 years. Last summer, I took an on-line remote class (my 5th) from Stuart Parks Forensic Associates which enabled me to sit for the Forensic Artist Certification class in February. Throughout the on-line class, they were very available and accessible for questions and even provided additional photos when I wanted a better resolution than provided in the workbook. They were just as helpful on-line as they are when I take the in-person classes. It is a great option if you can't travel to one of their classes, I would definitely do it again.” Marcia Sorknes, CCA, CFA.

This is your opportunity to start, work on, or complete your training without the cost of travel. Please contact us if this is of interest to you.

Happy New Year Everyone!

We've been busy for months working with departments to put together our best schedule ever for our 27th year of teaching. We're starting off with two great winter locations and we will be working to finalize more locations soon.  We're also looking into a couple of other really exciting locations.

Our biggest challenge comes from trying to schedule classes at the best location and time for each of you.  The only way we can accomplish this goal is for each one of you to contact us and let us know which location you are considering as soon as possible.

Book and art stuff

We are busy painting our huge commission and are going to be flying to Florida to discuss many more works of art. With the loss recently of Shane Berger, the woman who owned the gallery carrying our work, and our dear friend for over 28 years, we've been slower in producing watercolors.

"A Cry From the Dust" Carrie's first novel, released in August and has garnered fantastic reviews. Book #2 in the series, "The Bones Will Speak," has been turned in and book #3 is progressing. Be sure you get your copy!

The Reviews

My publisher, HarperCollins Christian, released my new novel, A Cry From the Dust, August 12. We're excited about the response, and the reviews are great:

“Parks’ fast-paced and suspenseful debut novel is an entertaining addition to the inspirational genre. Her writing is polished, and the research behind the novel brings credibility to the story. An excellent book that is sure to put Carrie Stuart Parks on readers’ radar.” – 4 stars, RT Book Reviews

“Parks, in her debut novel, has clearly done her research and never disappoints when it comes to crisp dialogue, characterization, or surprising twists and turns. Contemporary Mormon fundamentalism, a clever alternative theory about the martyrdom of Mormon founder Joseph Smith, and a determined search for the truth are blended artfully in this fast-paced, exciting novel.”Publishers Weekly
